To texture the archway, I used inspiration and reference pictures taken from my trip to the south coast (mainly Hestercombe Gardens) You can see that the door way texture is used on the base of my arch. I think this is quite effective as it adds a dash of colour to a level that will be primarily green and brown. I added some of the wall texture (another Hestercombe find) to the top as I wanted it to tie in with my walls.
I also used the reference to build and texture the curved walls you can see in the distance in two of my ref pictures. I also want to incorporate the stream edging you see, with the circular pits. I think this is a different way to break up the ground texture which will probably be quite tiled. Again, the ad of yellowish edging to this wall will help add interest to the colour scheme.
Here is another asset I have built directly from Hestercombe. This is yet to be textured but I plan to use my first hand reference again. I also want to use the grape vine you see to the right of the reference as its yellows will be a good change in foliage colour next to all of the green. I particularly enjoyed making this wall decorations, it was very pleasing to complete and I look forward to texturing it.
